Embodied Poetry workshops

Having worked in a form that is foreign to audiences for so long, I am constantly evolving ways to make the art more accessible without diluting its roots. I have also been noticing, over many years, how many yoga and mind/body practitioners are out in the world, teaching ancient Indian philosophies and body movements
without the decades of training and research that I have in these areas.
Embodied Poetry workshops are rooted in the literature, poetry,
mythology, and sacred texts behind my most recent
evening-length performances – Nocturne, Let the Crows Come,
and Invisible Cities. I am often approached by audience members
after a performance asking for deeper context about how they
were created/contextual information about the marrow of each piece.
These workshops will be carefully constructed to both show
the complexity of each work while also letting people
into the worlds I have created. Participants will also be
able to move their bodies and feel connected to India’s
ancient and proven mind/body practices.
